In a new chat on the Zach Sang Show, Corey Taylor opened up about different aspects of his life and career. He reflected on the ending of his previous marriage and its relation to his decision to step away from social media outside of work.
Taylor stayed married to his ex-wife Stephanie Luby for eight years until they got divorced in 2017. According to the recent interview, the two had a ‘toxic relationship’ and a bad breakup, which affected the singer’s mental state, as he shared:
“One wrong decision, and then you wake up one day, and you’re like, ‘I don’t know who the f**k I am.’ I mean, it’s bad, man. It will twist you out to the point where, when you get away from it, you are now this psychotic ball of emotion that is just trying to figure out what gives you joy now. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not on social media anymore.”
He went into more detail about the matter by explaining:
“It’s because I did a deep dive on social media and slipped into some habits that I wasn’t proud of. Because as someone at a certain level, you can’t really go to bars or date or whatever. It’s very easy to f**king slip into DM s**t, and that’s what I did for probably about four months. At the end of it, I was just like, ‘I’m more miserable now than I was before I started f**king doing this.'”
Taylor had a daughter with Luby in 2015. While talking about her and his other children in a chat with Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown in 2022, he mentioned his marriage to the model, as he said:
“This is actually my third marriage [to Alicia Dove]. My last marriage [to Luby], which was not Griffin’s [his son] mother — it was actually my daughter’s mother — that lasted about eight years. I won’t go into specifics, but it wasn’t a good time.”
